I was a kidney stone attack and I have heard that you have to try to break them. Does anyone know how?

Drink water! You cannot dissolve kidney stones. Your options are to pass it on your own (painful), add medications to help it flow out (Flomax is given to guys with prostate problems, but it also helps open things up so the stone can flow… this is still painful, but faster), remove it out with a basket (they pass this thing up your penis and actually go fishing for the stone (also painful, but you’ll be drug up so you won’t care), or lithotripsy (they use sound waves to bust up the stone). Now, unless the stone is large and does not look like it will pass on its own, then they won’t do anything. My doctor said it wasn’t a matter of dissolving them, but a matter of getting them out of the kidney. Your doctor may have something else in mind, but don’t wait on it..the bigger they get, the more it will hurt when they pass if you don’t get them blasted into powder.

you can’t dissolve them. they come out in your urine. VERY PAINFUL, been compared to child birth. my dad had them except luckily his was long and thin, so it didn’t hurt much
